Rob Scholefield says:
I cycle into Totnes from Newton Abbot to work once a week. 90% can be done on quiet lanes where I see about half a dozen cars. Then I have to join the main road above the Pig & Whistle, and pedal like hell to get that last mile done as fast as possible while the trucks & cars hammer past with the drivers half asleep on autopilot going to work.
I echo the comments about footfall for the businesses; I cycled the coast to coast last year which follows various trails inc the Tarka Trail, and it was plain to see the huge financial impact that cycling had had on businesses along the route. I think that the strength of the “lycra pound” should be stressed to those who oppose the route!
